Barnstable, North Devon.

Training and Techniques

Elaine studied at Loughborough College of Art and Design, gaining a B.A. with Honours in 3D Design and Ceramics. She started her career teaching art and craft therapy, firstly in Nottingham, then Avon and Somerset and finally settled in Devon to start a ceramics workshop. Her work is individually hand-built in stoneware clay. Each piece is textured with found objects, embossed papers and woven fabrics, then finally enhanced with oxides, slips, underglaze colours and glazes.

Creative Process

Elaine draws her inspiration from children's classic literature, traditional games and the careful observation of peoples'lives. Her pieces are 3D illustrations which have a lively, fresh approach with a touch of humour and fun.

Success

A member of the West Country Potter's Association, she has previously exhibited at the Burton Art Gallery and various craft fairs.
