Burin engraving on copper “Barry Cottrell is the foremost engraver on copper in Britain today. After studying psychology and philosophy at Oxford University, Cottrell attended the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, where he won the Ruskin Drawing Prize. It was while studying at the Ruskin that he learned to engrave from Jean Lodge, who herself had been taught by Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17. Cottrell's work is therefore in the direct lineage of Hayter's great revival of engraving.” -Idbury Prints
