Jackie Newell

Jackie Newell RE is an elected member of The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), and an established artist who specialises in etching but also uses a variety of other printing methods, including lithography, monoprint and collagraph. Her work is regularly exhibited in London and she has curated exhibitions in New York and New Delhi. In addition to writing a definitive study on monoprinting she has held a variety of teaching posts mainly in London and the South-East where she lives.

The focus of her work is to comment on manmade objects in the fields of mechanical and architectural structures. She introduces natural decayand distortions of scale placing her subjects amidst nature’s ruthless surroundings. Structures are scaled up to appear vast and dominant taking on a surreal identity. This boldness combines with a sensitive tonal range to produce haunting and brooding images.
