The alternative medieval landing place on Skellig Michael

is on the Atlantic side of the island. At the water’s edge,

deep in Blue Cove, a short but beautiful flight of rock cut

steps mark the start of a precarious zigzag path that can still

be deciphered leading up to the monastery 700ft above.
