Although Mary studied at the
Ravensbourne College of Art, she did not take up painting until 1970. She
diversified into etching as her preferred medium after 1978 and produces her
work in a very distinctive style.
The majority of her work is focused on children, from her
own offspring to those playing on the beach. This is a subject that is dear to
her heart and her images provide her audience with the tranquillity experienced
watching children at play.
Mary has exhibited widely over the years; Heals, Liberty,
the Royal Society of Painters, and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, to
mention only a few. We were delighted to commission an edition from her called
'Pebble Building' which shows the children building pebble castles (an annual
event) on the beach here in Budleigh Salterton.
