Anne
Desmet was born in Liverpool, UK, in 1964. She gained a BA (1986) & MA
(1991) in Fine Art at Oxford University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Printmaking
(1988) at Central School of Art & Design, London, & was awarded a Rome
Scholarship in Printmaking (1989). She lives & works in London and is
represented by Hart Gallery, London. She was elected a member of the Royal
Academy of Arts (RA) in 2011, in the category of Engravers, Printmakers &
Draughtsmen.

Anne Desmet
specializes in wood engraving, linocut & collage. Her collages are often
made from selected details cut from sample printings of her engraving &
lino blocks & may incorporate other materials such as pen/pencil drawing,
gold leaf, street-map fragments, banknotes & marbled papers. These are glued
onto various surfaces including archival card, painted wood, seashells,
mirrored glass, ceramic tiles & roofing slate to create unique, diverse
& complex artworks.
