Gerard Hemsworth




Gerard Hemsworth (born 1945, London) is a contemporary artist. He studied at St. Martin's College from 1963-1967 and has exhibited his work internationally since the 1970s. Initially his work was associated with the conceptual art practices of the late 1960s/1970s, however since the early 1980s it has expanded to include painting and print-making. In 1995, he exhibited with the BANK (art collective). In 2000, he was the winner of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Charles Wollaston Prize.

Hemsworth has held the positions of both Professor of Fine Art and Director of Postgraduate Studies in Fine Art, and currently, Emeritus Professor in Fine Art at Goldsmiths CollegeUniversity of London.
