Jacqui Jones

Jacqui Jones

Jaqui Jones had no formal training and was brought up in London where a pony was not an option. The equine form however captured her imagination and, after a brief interlude as a window dresser, she was drawn to Newmarket at the age of 16. She has a natural passion for horses and racing and says of her work "It is not enough to want to paint, you've got to have a reason. My reason is that I want to try to evoke the life force and spirit of my subject into my work." Jaquie works in oils and watercolour and has created some individual paintings on silk.

Jaqui brings her subjects to life with a spontanious and spirited use of colour - you can almost feel the exhilaration of the horse in her large hand-drawn lithograph 'The Messenger of Light'.

She has exhibited widely both here and in the United Arab Emirates and has been Artist in Residence at the National Horse Racing Museum. Her paintings are in the collections of Sheikh Mohammed, the Princess Royal and the late Queen Mother.
