Gerald Cooper

Born: 1898 - 1971

Relatively little is recorded on Gerald Cooper. He attended the RCA, gaining the drawing prize in 1925. He worked as a painter, sculptor and teacher. He became principal of Wimbledon School of Art. He was known for his meticulous flower drawings in the style of the Old Masters. Striped Lily is a typical example of his work. Although hardly a stimulating subject for children, it was a popular print with adults. It stands apart from the other School Prints in its conventionality.
