Gary Goodman is a painter and poet. His imagery is resoundingly direct, unbothered by artistic self-consciousness and politeness; unrefined, unmannerly yet sensitive. He simply wishes to say ‘hello’ to the world as it passes him by. Gary has exhibited his paintings and prints and has performed his poetry around the world: from the frozen wastes of Norway and Alaska down to the warmth of New Zealand and the Southern States of USA. He is a featured artist in books about Printmaking and Painting and has also appeared in various poetry anthologies.
For the past 23
years Gary has taught on a variety of courses at various universities
and colleges and continues to run workshops in printmaking, drawing and
painting.
He also organizes spoken word, music and performance events under the heading: ‘Everybody’s Got to Be Somewhere.’
He works from his shed at the end of the garden in Sussex.
‘There is a good deal of the shamanic
in Goodman.’
Prof Michael Tucker
‘Far from brutal, Goodman’s way of
painting is highly poetic’.
Prof Norbert Lynton
