Emma Molony

Emma Molony

Emma began printmaking in 2002 while living in Venice. Fascinated by the numerous dark inky print studios in the city, she began by learning mezzotint, etching and woodcut at Stamperia Abrizzi and Stamperia del Tintoretto.

Returning to Devon two years later, she continued to print and learn other processes at Double Elephant Print Workshop in Exeter, where she is now one of the directors.

I am interested in both the restrictions and possibilities that printmaking imposes and allows. I enjoy the richness of multi-plate etchings, the versatility that screenprint enables and the boundaries of reduction lino-cuts.

Most of my work is inspired by fairytales and stories  - particularly the short stories of Edwardian writer Saki (H. H. Munro).

Emma has received Arts Council funding to develop her printmaking, wallpaper and exploration of combining print and animation..

She has exhibited in several UK group shows and won the 2010 Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award.
