Tokitoh Ayako

Born 1970 Tokyo.Tokitoh attended Nippon Enginering College and studied under Kasai Masahiro, well-known silkscreen artist. She has had solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Osaka. Tokitoh also won the Tokyo International Mini Print Triennial Prize 2002.

Tokitoh's prints are mainly of flowers, coloured in delicate greys and blues. This is done by using a technique of drawing the motif directly onto the screen and printing with translucent ink. By repeating the process about ten times, she gives the image substance while maintaining its delicacy.
