I have worked my passage, still at it after 80 years. Working to stay alive. Without work the
ship will sink. Man the pumps! In the Wasteland Elliot says the river is within us but the sea
is surrounds us. I can trace a preoccupation with ships and the sea back to my first cross
channel trip when I was 9 years old.
